The short version. Reading the board needs no account and keeps nothing about you. If you turn on alerts, we keep only what it takes to send them: the alerts you ticked, your town, and either your browser’s notification address or your email address.

We never sell it, share it or use it for advertising. Unsubscribing deletes it.

Who we are

South Coast Conditions (coastconditions.com) is built and run by Rooted Coast Design in Bandon, Oregon. Questions, or a request to delete anything: hello@rootedcoastdesign.com.

Notification alerts

If you turn on notifications, your browser gives us a delivery address at its own push service (Google for Chrome, Apple for Safari, Mozilla for Firefox, Microsoft for Edge). We keep that address, the alerts you ticked and the town you picked, so an alert for your bar or your road reaches you and not somebody 100 miles away. No name, no email, nothing else.

Turning notifications off in your browser ends them. When a push service tells us an address is no longer valid, we delete it.

Email alerts

Where it is kept and who can see it

Alert records are kept in private storage at Vercel that only the site’s own server can read. Addresses are never shown on any page. Rooted Coast Design can view the email list to run the service, using a link that is emailed to us and expires after 30 minutes.

The companies that handle this data for us are Vercel (hosting and storage), Resend (sending email), and the browser push services above. The domain’s addresses are managed at Cloudflare.

Your choices

These choices are the same for everyone, wherever you live. If you are in California, they include your rights to know what we hold and to have it deleted. We don’t sell or share personal information, and because we don’t track anyone across websites, a browser’s Do Not Track signal has nothing to switch off here.

Children

The board is for adults planning a day on the coast. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If what we keep changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves.
