MoreAlerts, scanner feeds, and what this is

Scanner feeds

Public-safety radio from these two counties that somebody is streaming online, with what each feed carries.

Both counties are covered, and none of it is one town. Every feed here is county-wide or half a county wide: the nearest thing to a Ferndale, Petrolia or Shelter Cove feed is a southern Humboldt one that also covers Garberville and the Eel valley. What each carries is its own listing on Broadcastify, not something this page has checked against the radio.

Run by volunteers, not by any agency. It plays an ad first, runs a minute or so behind the radio, and can go quiet without notice; Broadcastify’s page shows whether it is on. Not a way to get help: call 911.

Del Norte County

Humboldt County

  • Law, fire and EMS — Eureka and north Its own listing names Eureka Police, Humboldt Bay Fire, the Sheriff’s main channel, Arcata police and fire, CHP, Cal Fire, the university police and City Ambulance. The one to open first from Trinidad down to the bay.
  • Law, fire and EMS — Eureka and south Listed as Eureka, the Eel River valley and southern Humboldt: police, fire, EMS, Coast Guard and airport traffic. The one that reaches Ferndale, Fortuna and the coast south of the bay.
  • Public safety — south county Listed as primarily Garberville, Redway and around them, off the sheriff’s digital radio system. The nearest feed to Shelter Cove, and it is not a Shelter Cove feed.
  • Arcata Fire District One district: Arcata, Manila, McKinleyville and Bayside. Arcata Fire Command is the same district’s command channel.
  • Cal Fire HUU — south, air frequencies Not a scanner in the usual sense. Its own listing: the fire AIR frequencies for the southern half of Cal Fire’s Humboldt–Del Norte unit, fed by Watch Duty, every frequency at once rather than scanned. Useful while something is burning; noise otherwise.
